Where the world famous wine is made… A mysterious labyrinth system of cellars winds beneath the region’s villages. This is where Tokaj wines are matured, the most outstanding of which is Tokaj aszú. Many historical figures, from Louis XIV to Goethe and Beethoven, have been fans of the drink. Many wineries and cellars in the area offer a behind-the-scenes look at wine production and winemaking, which is best crowned with a wine tasting.

Combining the richness of eight historic first-class vineyards, the 85-hectare estate’s centre in Bodrogkisfalud, in the Várhegy vineyard, was built by converting the manorial press house featured in the 1867 Tokaj-Hegyalja Album, and now includes a modern gravity-flow winery built in organic style, perfectly reflecting the coexistence of tradition and modernity in the World Heritage landscape.
